Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the California DIR’s recent report that the number of work related fatalities in the state declined in 2014, and a review indicated that workplace fatalities remain below the average rate prior to 2008, when the last recession began. The DIR also noted that deaths among Latino workers, which have been an area of significant concern, also decreased to 130 (38% of total) from 94 (49%) in 2013. Find out more by clicking here.
On the eve of Workers’ Memorial Day, we also highlight the WA L&I’s plan to honor fallen workers in a ceremony tomorrow. We hope you will take a moment as we have to acknowledge that behind each statistic and report that comes across our desks each day are real people, who have other good people (like you!) out there working to keep them safe, and help them get back on their feet!
