WorkCompRecap: Tracking Trends!

February 28, 2016 - WorkCompWire

Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of the eighth edition of WCRI’s Monitoring Trends in the New York Workers’ Compensation System, which aims to track the performance of the State’s system after 2007 reforms.

According to the report, for claims reflecting 16 months of experience under treatment guidelines, the number of visits per indemnity claim decreased for chiropractors and physical/occupational therapists when compared with the prior year. Additionally, from 2007-2013 for claims at 12 months of experience, WCRI found that even after dollar thresholds for prior authorization of physician-ordered diagnostics were raised (in order to reduce medical necessity hearings) the number of visits for major radiology services by nonhospital providers showed little change.
