Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new edition of WCRI’s CompScope Medical Benchmarks that found that in 2013 medical payments per claim in California decreased 5% for claims with more than seven days of lost time at 12 months of experience, which likely reflects the early impact of 2012 reform legislation.
WCRI noted that California’s experience differed from many of the 17 study states, in which medical payments per claim grew in 2013. Also of note was that sections of SB 863 that reduced fee schedule rates for ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) became effective in 2013, and that the study found ASC facility payments per claim decreased nearly 24% in 2013.
