Madison, WI – The IAIABC has released its first-ever podcast to begin a monthly series titled “Accidentally.” “Accidentally” will feature IAIABC Executive Director Jennifer Wolf Horejsh asking thought-provoking questions, raising awareness on emerging issues, and offering interesting insights into workers’ compensation.
This podcast series is titled “Accidentally” because most people in the workers’ compensation industry, like Jennifer, did not set out for a career in work comp, but “accidentally” fell into the business. Of course, “Accidentally” also plays into the IAIABC’s 101-year old name, the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions, and the very nature of the workers’ compensation industry.
For its premiere podcast, Jennifer discusses the 1972 National Commission, a topic that has been mentioned a number of times over the last year in media reports on workers’ compensation. Many people are wondering if workers’ compensation is still a grand bargain and meeting the National Commission’s essential recommendations.
Jennifer asks the question of whether or not the National Commission can be used as a road map to discussing today’s workers’ compensation systems, and provides some informative background on the Commission itself.
Future podcast topics will include the employer-employee relationship and whether the workers’ compensation as it is today fits within that evolving model; return to work as a part of return to health; and millennials in the workplace.
