Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features Pinnacol Assurance’s announcement that it is now broadening its health and wellness footprint by offering its Worksite Wellness program to all policyholders. The program is free of charge, and comes with access to community health resources and new arrangements with health plans, starting with Aetna, as well as providers, to coordinate care.
Pinnacol noted that research conducted on the program demonstrated a definitive link between employee health and the frequency and severity of workplace injuries, with a 2:1 return on investment. Also of interest is the partnership with Aetna, which seeks to create a “warm-handoff” between the two organizations when an employee is injured, and to coordinate the transition of care back to primary physicians after an injured worker recovers.
