Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the recent announcement that California Assembly Bill (AB) 1124 has passed the Assembly Floor and will head to the Governor’s desk. The bill would establish a prescription drug formulary in the state’s workers’ compensation system.
The bill’s sponsor Assemblymember Henry T. Perea (D-Fresno) noted the effectiveness of evidence-based formularies in other states, and pointed out that California’s could have the potential to save $420 million. Stakeholder groups including the California Labor Federation, Small Business California, California Chamber of Commerce, and the AIA all had praise for the bill. If it is signed, there will still be much work to be done for a successful implementation. For some great writeups on that, be sure to check out today’s CompLinks section.
