Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the California Department of Insurance’s recent announcement that it has awarded $34.9 million in grants to 37 district attorney offices representing 42 counties in California to combat workers’ comp insurance fraud. Also in the news today is Kids’ Chance of Nebraska’s announcement that it recently awarded its first two scholarships. Ruby Mendez of Crete & Zeb Elsbernd of Grand Island, both received scholarships in the amount of $5,000. Miss Mendez is enrolled at University of Nebraska-Kearney, and Mr. Elsbernd will be attending University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
