Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the California DIR’s release of a new report on progress implementing workers’ comp reforms from SB 863, which became law on January 1, 2013.
According to the DIR, reforms are on track, and it pointed to recently adopted advisory pure premium rates as evidence of lower costs for employers, while benefits for injured workers have increased, evidenced by higher weekly benefit minimums and the new Return to Work Supplement Program, which became effective in April and as of June has issue almost $2 million. The report also includes updates on the IMR process, a big reduction in the number of lien filings, a greater commitment to evidence based medicine, and MPN revisions and approvals.
