Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features NCCI’s release of the latest edition of its Quarterly Economics Briefing, which examines the country’s economic outlook and its impact on workers compensation.
Of particular interest in this issue was the “New Normal” labor market, with NCCI noting that if the Federal Reserve continues to believe the country is approaching its natural rate of unemployment, an increase in interest rates may be in store for the near future, which will have a direct impact on investment returns for workers comp insurers. Other areas covered include employment and wage growth, medical inflation, and interest rates.
