Daryl noted the continued adoption of evidence-based medicine across many states as an ongoing positive development for workers’ comp, and pointed to expansion of predictive modeling capabilities as a goal for the future. Also in the news today is a new edition of WCRI’s CompScope Benchmarks, who found that North Carolina’s workers’ comp system had the highest indemnity benefits per claim out of the 17 study states. WCRI noted that some issues in the state were addressed by 2011 reforms – however since it is too soon for changes to appear in the data, the study can be used as a good baseline for future comparison.
