Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new CWCI report that examined California workers’ comp utilization review (UR) programs using data from DWC Audits performed from 2009-2013 to gauge the efficiency of UR processes in terms of timeliness, content and delivery of responses to treatment requests.
CWCI’s analysis found that claims administrators had very consistent UR compliance rates from 2009-2013, with less than 1 percentage point variance across the entire period. Overall compliance rates averaged 97.2%, significantly exceeding the 85% rate that the state set as a passing grade, with the individual components timeliness, content, and delivery posting 5-year averages of 93% and both over 99%, respectively.
