Columbus, OH – Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) Administrator/CEO Steve Buehrer recently announced Ohio employers were approved for 54 Safety Intervention Grants for totaling $1.5 million. The safety grant program assists Ohio employers in reducing illnesses and injuries and creates a partnership with them to establish best practices for accident and injury prevention.
“The success of the safety grant program demonstrates Ohio employers’ ongoing concern for the safety of their workers,” said BWC Administrator/CEO Steve Buehrer. “They are working to reduce injuries and illnesses by taking advantage of advances in technology and opportunities to increase safety training and awareness among their employees.”
Employers representing six private industries and five public employer types in 34 counties were approved for the grants. A full listing by month of entities approved for grants with a summary of what intervention the money will go to is attached and can be seen online here.
Ohio private and public employers are eligible for safety intervention grants, which include a 3-to-1 matching amount up to a maximum of $40,000. Quarterly data reports and follow-up case studies help BWC determine the effectiveness of employers’ safety interventions and establish best practices.
