Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the TDI-DWC’s announcement that it recently conducted performance audits of several insurance carriers on the accuracy of payments of Lifetime Income and Death Benefits. and found underpayments on 64 claims totaling over $511,000.
The Division noted common compliance errors discovered in the audits that contributed to the underpayments included failures in paying 75% of average weekly wage (AWW), obtaining complete wage statements, properly calculating AWW, and failures to include non-pecuniary wages in AWW.
