Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the AIA’s recent testimony in support of support of the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Act (HB 130/SB 63) currently under consideration in the Missouri State Legislature. Missouri is the only remaining state in the US that not yet utilize a PDMP.
The bill would require reporting of all Schedule II, III and IV controlled substances, which national PDMP expert John L. Eadie noted has been found to be the essential minimum to assist in informed clinical decision-making and protecting public health and safety. Eadie also noted that Missouri should consider adding other recommended data elements, including number of refills ordered, patient gender, and the person who receives the prescription, if other than the patient.
