Des Moines, WA – The National Council of Self Insurers (NCSI) recently announced the appointment of Mary Ann Loonam and Kris Tefft to their Executive Committee. NCSI is the national business association representing major employers and groups of employers that self-insure their workers’ compensation risk, state self-insurer associations, and state guaranty funds. The Executive Committee oversees management of the National Council, on behalf of its Board of Managers
“We’re very happy to have Mary Ann and Kris join the Executive Committee,” said Dave Kaplan, Executive Director of the National Council. “Mary Ann’s extensive background in workers’ compensation and keen insight on issues, and Kris’s knowledge and legal background, will lend themselves well in representing our members’ interests.”
Mary Ann Loonam is the Senior Workers’ Compensation Administrator at Johns Manville. She is responsible for the administration of legacy asbestos claims, as well as management of Johns Manville’s self-insured workers’ compensation programs in ten states. A thirty year employee of the company, she also works with their Health & Safety Leaders and their Third Party Administrator to manage claims at their 34 U.S. plants.
Kris Tefft is the Executive Director and General Counsel of the Washington Self-Insurers Association, joining WSIA in March of 2014. Kris leads the organization’s efforts in government affairs and public relations, directs staff oversight of WSIA’s professional development and networking programs, and, in legal matters of substantial importance to the membership, represents WSIA in the courts. Prior to joining WSIA, he was the General Counsel and Government Affairs Director for over ten years at the Association of Washington Business.
