Crawford Names Judson Spencer Vice President of Operational Compliance

January 8, 2015 - WorkCompWire

Atlanta, GA – Crawford & Company recently announced that Judson Spencer has been named vice president, operational compliance. Spencer is assuming the responsibilities of Robert Stevens, who recently retired from Crawford after 24 years with the Company. Spencer brings more than 10 years of claims operations management, organizational compliance and oversight experience to his position, and he reports to Robert Cormican, senior vice president, Compliance & Quality.

“Jud’s experience and background make him a great fit, both for the Compliance function and Crawford & Company,” said Cormican. “He is a key part of our expanded effort this year to establish a world‐class Ethics and Compliance office staffed with top talent. Jud is a proven leader and I look forward to working with him.”

In his new role Spencer is responsible for the Operational Compliance group, which supports Crawford’s U.S. Property & Casualty—as well as the Company’s Broadspire® unit—in meeting applicable regulatory requirements. He also manages the adjuster licensing function which supports Crawford’s other business units in insuring their adjusters are properly licensed. Broadspire is a leading third‐party administrator of workers compensation claims, liability claims and medical management services.

Earlier this year Crawford established the Global Ethics and Compliance Office to be responsible for providing Crawford employees with the information, tools, guidance, training and support they need to comply with Crawford’s Code of Business and Ethics Conduct. The Operational Compliance group is a critical component of the Global Ethics and Compliance Office.

Prior to joining Crawford, Spencer served for seven years as process improvement manager/supervisor of staff for the Chesterfield Companies. Before that he held the position of self‐funded claims and customer service manager for the Aultman Health Foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Mount Union in Ohio.
