Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of the results of CompPharma’s 11th annual Survey Report of Prescription Drug Management in Workers’ Compensation.
The report notes that drug costs continue to be a significant worry for workers’ comp payers, in spite of relatively flat pharmacy costs. Respondents’ rating of drug costs’ importance saw a slight increase over the average for the past three years. Opioids also continued to be a significant issue, with respondents rating themselves as “very concerned” about the issue of addiction/dependency. Physician dispensing was another high ranking concern, with responses citing patient safety, potential duplicate therapy, and higher costs as specific issues with the practice.
