WorkCompRecap: New WCRI Report!

October 20, 2014 - WorkCompWire

Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of the latest edition of WCRI’s CompScope Medical Benchmarks, which examines current medical costs and trends in 16 states’ workers’ compensation systems, including cost drivers, effects of legislative and regulatory changes, and trends in payments, prices, and utilization of medical care for injured workers.

Key findings from this edition include points like a drop of 20% in medical payments per claim in Illinois between 2010 and 2012, likely due to a reduction in fee schedule rates. North Carolina on the other hand saw its hospital costs per claim remain higher than in most states, despite 2009 fee schedule changes that attempted to control those costs.
