Denver, CO – Pinnacol Assurance, Colorado’s leading provider of workers’ compensation insurance, has named Karyn Gonzales as the company’s new vice president of medical operations and healthcare strategy. She will oversee the performance and delivery of all medical operations, including our established and experienced network of medical providers, SelectNet. She will also play a key role in developing population health management strategies at Pinnacol, ensuring the company is on the forefront of healthcare trends that impact workers’ compensation.
“Pinnacol is committed to the safety, health and wellness of Colorado’s workers, and this new role will allow us to do more with this commitment than ever before,” said Phil Kalin, Pinnacol’s president and CEO. “Karyn looks forward to working closely with our comprehensive network of medical providers, and with leaders and organizations that share our dedication to the people of Colorado.”
Prior to joining Pinnacol, Gonzales served as the national director of clinically integrated networks at Catholic Health Initiatives, where she played an essential role in the development of population health management and accountable care capabilities. Gonzales also served as senior director, network development and provider contracting, with Kaiser Permanente. In that role, she led network strategy, development and provider relations for Kaiser’s Colorado Region. With more than 20 years of healthcare experience, Gonzales is the ideal choice for the position at Pinnacol.
Gonzales is active in the community, serving as a charter member of Board Bound through the Women’s Leadership Foundation, and she has been on the boards of the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce, the Denver Oncology Consortium, and the Colorado Women’s Forum in Healthcare Administration.
