Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features CWCI’s recent release of their analysis of data from California’s Office of Self Insurance Plans (OSIP), which found that indemnity claim frequency increased 7.6% in 2013 for private self-insured employers in the state, but medical-only claims declined 4.7%, resulting in little change shown in the overall claim frequency rate versus 2012.
CWCI also noted that OSIP data for 2013 covered 2.09 million workers employed by California private self-insureds, which was down only 2% from 2012, but 26% less than the 2.81 million employees covered in the initial report for 2005.
