Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features NCCI’s recent release of their 2014 update on Workers’ Comp Claim Frequency. According to the report’s preliminary estimates, lost-time claim frequency per premium for workers’ compensation declined by what NCCI called a ‘relatively modest’ 2% in Accident Year 2013.
NCCI also noted that the Great Recession had a significant effect on claims frequency, which increased in AY 2010, but has declined in each year since, suggesting that frequency may continue its historical long-term rate of decline. Along with overall frequency trends from recent years, the report examines frequency changes by selected claim characteristics, and for policies with small deductibles versus policies without deductibles.
