Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new CompScope Medical Benchmarks report from WCRI that found that costs per claim of medical care for injured workers in Indiana were higher than most states and growing faster, primarily due to higher and growing prices, similar to findings in other states without price regulation.
The report also noted that hospital care costs contributed significantly to the higher overall medical costs per claim in Indiana, especially for outpatient services, and were recently addressed with the implementation of a new hospital fee schedule, effective just this year.
