Jacksonville, FL – The Main Street America Group has appointed corporate counsel Kimberly Law as assistant secretary (an officer-level role) of the super-regional property/casualty insurance carrier.
“Kim exemplifies the strong leadership qualities that drive Main Street America’s sustained success in a challenging marketplace and she has played a key role in the success of our company’s law function,” said Main Street America chairman and chief executive officer Tom Van Berkel.
As corporate counsel, Law is responsible for representing Main Street America at department of insurance and other administrative hearings, as well as monitoring and reporting on regulatory trends within the company’s four regions. Additionally, she produces a quarterly federal and state legislative and regulatory update for Main Street America’s board of directors.
Prior to joining Main Street America as corporate counsel in May 2013, Law had been a consultant in the company’s law department for several months. Her experience as a practicing attorney includes litigation associate roles at three Jacksonville, Fla., law firms: Holland & Knight LLP, Fowler White Boggs Banker P.A., and LeBouef, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP.
Law earned her juris doctorate degree, cum laude, from the Florida State University College of Law, Tallahassee, Fla.; and her bachelor’s degree in sports management at the University of Richmond, Richmond, Va. She is a member of The Florida Bar and Jacksonville Bar Association.
