Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new study from CWCI and the California WCIRB that found that average facility fee payments to ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) have declined 26% per episode and 28% per procedure since last year’s adoption of fee schedule changes mandated by SB 863.
Key findings from the study also included that both ASCs and hospital outpatient departments showed declines in the proportion of outpatient facility fees paying for additional services associated with the primary paid procedure. CWCI and the WCIRB noted that the findings are preliminary, and that they plan to issue an update later this year with more 2013 data.
