Rocky Hill, CT – A supervisor in the Stamford Water Pollution Control Bureau was recently arrested and charged with Workers’ Compensation fraud.
Alfred Gorenflo, age 69, of 25 Stoney Brook Road, Norwalk, was arrested by Inspectors from the Office of the Chief State’s Attorney and charged with one count Workers’ Compensation Fraud, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Gorenflo collected more than $100,000 in Workers’ Compensation benefits after he reported suffering a work-related injury while inspecting a sewer main break in March 2011.
The warrant alleges that Gorenflo misrepresented the material facts regarding his disability claim while receiving benefits and earned money drafting blueprints for a home improvement company while collecting benefits for supposedly being unable to work.
Gorenflo was released on a written promise to appear in Meriden Superior Court, G.A. No. 7, on April 4, 2014. The charge is merely an allegation and he is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case is being prosecuted by the Worker’s Compensation Fraud Control Bureau in the Chief State’s Attorney’s Office.
