Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features a new webinar coming up next Thursday from WCRI on the results of their recent study on the effects of the 30% reduction that Illinois made to its medical fee schedule in 2011.
The webinar will cover both sides of the issue, looking at how prices paid for medical services changed after the fee schedule reduction and whether there were any services for which the cuts may have been so large as to raise concerns about access to care for injured workers. On the other side, common surgeries were found to be 107-231% higher than prices paid by Illinois group health insurers after the reductions, which raised questions about whether the reductions could have been even larger.
