Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features some interesting results as the state of Washington’s Department of Labor & Industries has announced that their “Stay at Work” program, which encourages employers to provide injured workers with light-duty jobs, has paid off for the business community, with $19.4 million being paid out in the program’s first two years.
The program provides incentives for employers by paying half the employee’s base wages, plus training, equipment and clothing costs to keep the injured worker in a modified job while healing from their injury. L&I noted that the $19.4 million in incentives went to more than 2,300 employers who provided light duty work to 8,200 workers.
