Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features some M&A news with Mitchell’s recent announcement of its acquisition of FAIRPAY Solutions to expand its suite of bill review and out-of-network negotiation services, and complement its acquisition of National Health Quest (NHQ) in 2012. Also in the news today is PCI’s continued work towards TRIA reauthorization, with PCI Board Member and President and CEO of PMA Vincent Donnelly recently testifying to its importance. Donnelly noted that without a reauthorization, some insurers may exit the workers’ comp market, leading to less competitive prices, and that the “immense” scale of potential unlimited terrorism losses for workers comp insurers could impair their ability to pay claims.
