MEMIC, University of Southern Maine and AMCOMP Partner on WCP Curriculum & Designation

February 12, 2014 - WorkCompWire

New York, NY -(BusinessWire)- Donald T. DeCarlo, AMCOMP Chairman of the American Society of Workers Comp Professionals, Inc. (AMCOMP) and John T. Leonard, President & CEO of MEMIC recently announced that the University of Southern Maine will be utilizing AMCOMP’s workers compensation WCP® (Workers Compensation Professional designation) course curriculum as a course of study program at the University.

According to Chairman DeCarlo, “The University of Southern Maine has selected AMCOMP curriculum because of its comprehensive and broad scope of the areas involved in the workers compensation system.” DeCarlo continued, “In these difficult economic times, employers and employees realize that education and customer service are the two elements needed for success. Moreover, educational institutions such as the University of Southern Maine realize that this course of study is a necessary factor in securing future generations in the industry.”

John T. Leonard, President and CEO of MEMIC commented, “Qualified employees are the key to fostering success at a company. This is the second semester MEMIC has enrolled many of its employees in the program. The enhanced and extended knowledge base a course like this offers ensures that MEMIC can maintain and provide its customers with the best possible employee to manage all their workers comp needs at the most competitive price.”

DeCarlo added, “While the WCP® (Workers Comp Certified Professional) designation is being offered at the University of Southern Maine, it is also available at other Universities and as a home study course. AMCOMP members who successfully complete the educational program set forth by the Association can achieve their WCP® regardless of which state they live in.”
