Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new report from WCRI on the impact of the 30% reduction in the Illinois medical fee schedule that was enacted in 2011, including how prices paid for medical services changed, and whether there were any cuts that were too large when it came to care access.
WCRI noted that in some instances like common surgeries, prices remained high enough that questions arose about whether reductions could have been even larger without affecting access to care by surgeons. Conversely the report also points out that common office visit prices were found to be so low as to raise concerns about access to care.
