Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap returns to our regular programming with the California WCIRB’s recent release of a new report that analyzes the elevated level of indemnity claim frequency that has persisted in California since 2010 and aimed to identify factors influencing the 2012 indemnity claim frequency increase compared to ones affecting the 2010 increase.
Key findings included that although many states saw an indemnity claim frequency increase in 2010, the 2012 increase appeared to be unique to California. The WCIRB also noted that a 2012 increase in cumulative injury claims was focused primarily on permanent disability claims and claims involving injuries to multiple body parts, while the 2010 increase was spread across many types of injuries.
