M.A.C. Workers’ Compensation Fund Returns Over $2.5 Million in 2013

January 22, 2014 - WorkCompWire

Lansing, MI -(PRNewswire)- The Michigan Association of Counties Workers’ Compensation Fund (M.C.W.C.F.) is pleased to announce the 2013 surplus premium totaled $2,581,929 and has been distributed to members of the fund.

With over 70 public entities, the M.C.W.C.F. distributed dividend checks in late December, averaging a 35 percent return of annual premiums to members, the highest of returns exceeding $260,000.

“Otsego County was thrilled to receive their dividend check in 2013,” said Otsego County Human Resources Director Trisha Adam. “With escalating benefit costs across the board and a challenging budgetary climate, it is reassuring to know that our participation in the MAC Worker’s Compensation Fund allows us to keep our workplace and employees safe while keeping our premiums manageable. Knowing that our premiums are going into a non-profit fund that is managed by its members who understand municipalities is very reassuring.”

The fund was established in 1979 and has grown into one of the most successful worker’s compensation fund programs in Michigan.
