Chicago, IL – The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) commends Delaware Governor Jack Markel, Lieutenant Governor Matt Denn, and the 20-member Workers Compensation Task Force for reaching out to the Workers Compensation Research Institute (WCRI) to help identify costs drivers in the state’s workers compensation system. The task force recently scheduled WCRI, a not-for-profit research organization, to make a presentation on Jan. 24 which will provide objective information about public policy issues involving workers compensation.
“Workers compensation costs are spiraling in Delaware and that threatens the state’s economy with particularly harsh impacts for small businesses. The high costs take a toll on employers. The WCRI can independently compare Delaware’s workers compensation system to other states’ systems to identify potential areas of reforms,” said Oyango Snell, regional manager for PCI.
“This could be the foundation for identifying potential areas of reforms in Delaware. PCI and our members are committed to working with the task force and offer suggestions so we can pass a law that will control escalating medical costs, without sacrificing quality care for injured workers in the state of Delaware.”
