Columbus, OH – Ohio Lieutenant Governor and Insurance Director Mary Taylor announced that Barbara Elise Miller, former owner of Three Rivers Infusion and Pharmacy Specialists in Coshocton, was recently sentenced in U.S. District Court in Akron to 54 months in prison and three years of probation for multiple health care fraud charges stemming from her scheme to fraudulently bill private insurance companies and Medicaid.
“Ms. Miller defrauded consumers, insurance companies and the state of Ohio out of $2.1 million,” Taylor said. “These are serious crimes that harmed real people and real businesses. Fortunately, the investigative team of local, state and federal officials worked together to bring this intricate case to a close.”
In July she was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Akron to serve 27 months for obstructing the federal health care fraud investigation.
The original charges against Miller were filed in early 2010 as the result of a joint investigation involving the Ohio Department of Insurance, Ohio Attorney General’s Office, US Department of Health and Human Services, the FBI, and the US Attorney’s Office-Northern District.
