San Francisco, CA – The WCIRB recently announced a significant expansion of its STAR Online service to include access to policy data, enhanced policyholder information search features, and online tools for insurers to manage their test audit selections. This latest deployment adds new functionality to the STAR Online application that was launched earlier in the year and marks the on-schedule and on-budget delivery of the STAR project’s original scope and timeline.
Bill Mudge, WCIRB President and CEO, commented that, “The successful deployment of STAR and this new suite of online services is another major milestone in our ongoing commitment to optimizing the customer experience through innovation and technology. Everyone involved in this project-from development and testing, to the rollout and end-user training-should be extremely proud of their achievements.”
New STAR Online Features
- For Insurers
STAR Online gives insurers online access to ten years of policy and unit statistical report data, experience rate sheets, classification inspection reports and most WCIRB issued correspondence and reports. Insurers can use the STAR Online system to view USR and policy data submissions, respond to data related correspondence via an online “work queue”, and access policyholder information needed to underwrite policies and service their policyholders. For the first time, the WCIRB now offers online access to insurer test audit selections and insurers may submit test audit materials using the new system. Anyone with a WCIRB Online user account, and anyone with responsibility for managing policy or USR data, should begin making the switch to STAR Online. - For Agents and Brokers
Coming in February 2014, STAR Online will offer agents and brokers enhanced access to X-Mods, rate sheets, classification inspection reports and other policyholder information essential to serving their clients. More information about the rollout of the free agent and broker service will be released in January.
A complete list of STAR Online features is available on the STAR Online Overview page on the WCIRB website. Also from this page, insurers may register for one of the WCIRB’s upcoming live demonstration webinars to learn more about all of STAR Online’s features.
STAR Online to Replace WCIRB Online in Mid 2014
STAR Online is a significant expansion of the WCIRB’s online services and will replace the existing WCIRB Online service. Insurers that are using WCIRB Online services should begin the transition now to STAR Online. In January, the WCIRB will provide information to agents and brokers about transitioning their WCIRB Online accounts to the new STAR Online service. In mid-2014, once both user communities have had ample opportunity to make the transition, the WCIRB will decommission the WCIRB Online website.
