Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new CompScope report from WCRI on the impact of regulatory changes in Illinois enacted in 2011 on the costs of medical care for injured workers. The report found a five percent decrease in medical costs per claim (for claims with 7+ days of lost time) was likely the early result of the 30% reduction in fee schedule rates for medical services. Also in the news today is the Lousiana Workforce Commission, who recently announced that NCCI has recommended cuts that would result in a 5.1% cut in workers’ comp rates for employers.
