Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of the California WCIRB’s 2013 Senate Bill Cost Monitoring Report – Initial Retrospective Evaluation, which contains preliminary cost estimates based on emerging post-reform data for many of the key components of the bill.
Key findings from the report included that indemnity claim frequency for the first half of 2013 was 6.2% over 2012, which was significantly above the projected levels. The WCIRB also noted that based on DWC lien filing data through Q3, there may be a greater reduction than the 40% projected by the WCIRB in 2012.
