Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap kicks off National Workers’ Comp & Disability Conference week with a new report from WCRI that found that after several years of steady growth, costs per workers’ compensation claim in Pennsylvania are moderating, growing at 3.4% per year between 2009 and 2011, compared to 7.6% per year in the three previous years.
According to WCRI, moderation in growth was seen across all cost components, including medical payments, wage replacement benefits, and litigation expenses. The report did however note that indemnity benefits were higher than typical study states, driven by longer TD durations and larger lump-sum settlements.
