Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features CompPharma’s announcement of the recent release of a study that found it costs more for California pharmacies to dispense prescriptions to workers’ compensation patients than to the state’s Medi-Cal recipients.
The study, which was conducted by MENTORx/PharmAccount, examined personnel-related dispensing costs (including the time required by pharmacy personnel to process, dispense and bill for prescriptions) as well as a ‘bad-debt’ factor for prescriptions in each system, and found that expenses for workers’ comp ranged from $6 to $9.90 per script than Medi-Cal.
