Modern Medical is First PBM to Bring e-Prescribing to Workers’ Comp

November 19, 2013 - WorkCompWire

Columbus, OH – Modern Medical, a Healthcare Solutions company, recently announced that e-Prescribing will be available for its workers’ compensation services clients and their claimants. Modern Medical’s e-Prescribing program, the first in workers’ compensation; is integrated with the claimant’s formulary and medication history, offering physicians instant access at the point of care. e-Prescribing is just one of the technology innovations Modern Medical committed to when it decided 7 years ago to focus on developing client-centered technology.

The e-prescribing platform developed in conjunction with Modern Medical’s IT department and pharmacy network provider, Catamaran; will create a streamlined prescribing process that improves medication accuracy, claimant safety and will save time for both the claimant and the client. E-Prescribing can potentially reduce the amount of prior authorization requests to the adjuster as the physician will have the capability to view the claimant’s formulary at the point of care and determine what medication is approved on the formulary. For the convenience of the physicians, a letter of medical necessity (LOMN) is built into the platform allowing the physician to request a specific medication.

“Our commitment to providing clients with state of the art technology for desired outcomes has been a top priority for Modern Medical and we are now seeing the results of that technology investment,” stated Joe Favazzo, Executive Vice-President of Healthcare Solutions and Modern Medical Founder.
