Las Vegas, NV – Healthesystems, a provider of pharmacy and ancillary benefit management solutions for workers’ compensation payers, will preview an innovative suite of data visualization tools at the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference and Expo, November 20-22.
The suite includes several components, including an innovative and highly intuitive risk management dashboard that provides workers’ compensation payers with actionable intelligence on the most critical drug therapy risks in their claims population. Next-generation clinical analytics enable Healthesystems to uncover a multitude of risks in real time that can drive costs and poor outcomes. Included are risks for opioid abuse, misuse and diversion, as well as the excessive costs associated with physician dispensing and repackaged drugs.
“We frequently see combinations of higher risk patient behaviors and special circumstances present in a claim that warrant a closer look. Alone, some of these may not attract attention,” said Healthesystems Chief Medical Officer Robert Goldberg, MD, FACOEM, a nationally recognized occupational medicine specialist. “When a combination of these risks is present in a claim, a red flag should go up before they drive poor outcomes for the injured worker — especially when opioid abuse or misuse is involved. By identifying drug therapy risks early, we can advise claims professionals on next steps and help ensure that injured workers receive the appropriate treatment.”
Healthesystems is identifying high-risk claims based on a review of dozens of factors such as:
- multiple long-acting opioid prescriptions
- multiple opioid prescribers
- multiple pharmacies
- opioid refill patterns
- concurrent therapies
- dangerous drug combinations
The information is displayed in intuitive formats that enable payers to take quick action to minimize risks. A team of Healthesystems executives will be present in booth 1423 to demonstrate the data visualization suite, which also includes robust analytic tools for polypharmacy and opioid risks.
“Healthesystems President Daryl Corr explained, “Clients need actionable intelligence. Our data visualization suite provides a high-level view of the most critical drug therapy risks so clients can act quickly to minimize them. It also provides a foundation for long-term strategies that reduce overall prescription drug expenditures.”
