Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of the 14th Edition of WCRI’s CompScope Benchmarks report series, which examines the performance of 16 different states’ workers’ comp systems, how they compare with each other, and how they change over time.
Key findings from the report included a decline in medical payments per claim in Illinois, which was likely a result of reductions in fee schedule rates. Overall claims costs also declined in Texas after the implementation of reforms aimed at medical cost containment. Costs per claim in Louisiana however were higher than most and growing rapidly, primarily due to increasing temporary disability durations and increased hospital payments.
