Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the recent release of the results from CompPharma’s 10th Annual Survey of Prescription Drug Management in Workers’ Comp, which has found a much greater shift over the years toward focusing on utilization (especially when it comes to opioids), physician dispensing, and patient safety, rather than just pricing and pharmacy network sizes.
Additional key findings included that the overwhelming majority of respondents use urine drug testing (UDT) to monitor compliance, and the remainder also advocated it. Also of note was that UDT and monitoring have been adopted faster than any other program in the survey’s history, which emphasizes the attention being paid to opioid management.
