Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the California WCIRB’s recent announcement that its Governing Committee has authorized its January 1, 2014 Advisory Pure Premium Rate Filing, which will propose rates that average $2.70 per $100 of payroll, roughly 6.9% higher than the industry average filed rate of $2.53 as of July 1. Also in the news today are workplace fatality breakdowns from both Utah and Texas in relation to the national Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries. Interestingly, both the Utah Labor Commission and TDI-DWC noted that transportation incidents continued as the leading cause of fatal work injuries.
