Washington, DC – The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) has named Steve Norton as its new director, executive communications.
“We are very pleased to welcome Steve Norton to PCI’s Public Affairs Division,” said Marguerite Tortorello, PCI’s senior vice president, public affairs. “Steve brings a wealth of experience in communications, journalism, and government affairs. He will be a valuable addition to PCI’s dynamic public affairs team, as we work to educate consumers, elected officials and opinion leaders and advance PCI’s mission to promote and protect the viability of a competitive private insurance market for the benefit of consumers and insurers.”
Prior to joining PCI, Norton was the communications director for the Information Technology Foundation, a cutting-edge economic and technology policy think tank. Previously, he served as speechwriter for U.S. Trade Representatives Rob Portman and Susan Schwab. As a journalist, he covered a wide range of issues, including taxes, trade, and other economic policy issues, for Congressional Quarterly and National Journal’s Congress Daily. Earlier in his career he served as a legislative assistant for U.S. Reps. Terry L. Bruce (D-IL) and Barbara B. Kennelly (D-CT).
Norton, who lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and their two children, holds a Masters in Journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
