OK Insurance Commissioner Doak Hosts Series of Forums on New Workers’ Comp Law

July 18, 2013 - WorkCompWire

Oklahoma City, OK – The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) is separating fact from fiction when it comes to the new workers’ compensation law. OID will hold seminars aimed at educating business owners, workers and insurance agents about the upcoming workers’ compensation changes. Insurance professionals who attend the seminar can receive one hour of Continuing Education credit at no cost.

The Administrative Workers’ Compensation Act, SB 1062, was signed by Gov. Mary Fallin in May 2013. It seeks to reduce the cost of workers’ compensation premiums and ensure that injured workers receive quality care in a timely manner.

“This is good news for Oklahoma. Our economy, workers and businesses will all benefit from the changes,” said Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak. “The new law aims to reduce costs for small and large businesses, and will produce improved outcomes for injured workers.”

During the statewide events, OID experts will explain how the administrative system will work, the Oklahoma Option and the eligibility requirements for a qualified employer.

Insurance professionals seeking one free hour of Continuing Education credit must register online at: http://www.ok.gov/oid/workerscompreform.html.
