Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the California DWC’s recent announcement of their proposed resource-based relative value scale (RBRVS) based physician fee schedule, adoption of which was directed by SB 863.
The DWC noted that they believe the new fee schedule will support the right incentives for appropriate care and return to work, and that the workers’ comp system will see numerous cost savings and efficiency gains from the fee schedule. DWC also pointed out that the benefits will be enhanced by adopting the schedule prior to the “default” fee caps that would automatically apply on Jan. 1, 2014 if a regulation is not adopted.
