Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of the Fifth Edition of WCRI’s Medical Price Index for Workers’ Compensation, which focuses specifically on the prices paid for the medical care that injured workers receive under their state’s workers’ compensation system, as according to WCRI, the national medical price index is a poor measure of workers’ comp price inflation in most states.
Key findings from this edition of the MPI-WC included that not only were prices paid for professional services higher in states with no fee schedule regulations as compared with fee schedule states, they also grew more rapidly over the study period.
