Today’s issue of WorkCompRecap features the release of a new whitepaper sponsored by Sedgwick that examines the implications of Oklahoma’s workers’ comp alternate coverage law, which passed earlier this month. The paper was authored by Peter Rousmaniere and Jack Roberts of the New Street Group, and delivered the conclusion that the legislation may be “the most inventive” piece of workers’ comp legislation since the early 20th century.
The report examines how the new law will lower workers’ comp costs for employers, how employers can provide an alternate to the state’s system, the impact on claims management, the potential for major cost savings, legal issues involved and national implications for coverage alternatives in other states.
