Franklin, TN – A newly launched occupational health solution is resulting in fewer filed claims, increased network penetration and an overall reduction in claims costs. Coventry Care @ Work is designed for operations that could benefit from a nurse at the worksite; combining the skills and expertise of a triage nurse, an occupational health nurse, and a case manager through a single care manager located in each worksite.
Specific findings of the pilot study include:
- A 29.9% decrease in workers’ compensation claims filed
- A 59.1% increase in first fill pharmacy network penetration
- A 30.9% decrease in total dollars paid for workers’ compensation claims
The Coventry Care @ Work program places a Coventry trained nurse at the employer’s location. The onsite nurse focuses on prevention and health promotion to minimize accidents and illnesses, and provides triage, first aid and case management for injured or ill employees including return-to-work management. The nurse helps promote a healthier environment by offering educational sessions to employees on a wide-variety of topics such as blood pressure, diabetes, weight loss and smoking cessation.
“We are pleased the results of the pilot reflect our initial expectations of the program,” stated Tammy Bradly, vice president, clinical product development at Coventry. “These results further reinforce the benefits an onsite clinician offers employers who are concerned for workforce health and productivity but cannot justify staffing internally.”
Given the success of the pilot, the program is now available to all employers looking for a cost-effective occupational health solution including onsite wellness and safety.
